Beane Engineering is a structural engineering firm founded in Milwaukee and New York City and practices across North America, with a significant presence in the Midwest and East Coast. We have experience working on projects in the Greater New York City and Greater Boston regions, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, as well as internationally in the Dominican Republic. Additional licensure can be provided as needed.
Beane Engineering’s expertise ranges from adaptive reuse and renovations, historic preservation and structural investigations, to new construction, non-building structures and art installations. Jeff Beane is the Founding Principal of Beane Engineering and has been active in the construction industry for over twenty-five years, eighteen as a practicing structural engineer in New York City. He has a wide range of expertise and strives to contribute to the built environment through a deep respect for the past and a dedication to innovation along with a desire to create.
Jeff earned his Master of Science in Structural Engineering and his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also earned a Certificate in Architectural Conservation from RESTORE in New York City, where he practiced under world-renowned preservation engineer Robert Silman. Jeff also serves as Vice-President of the Association for Preservation Technology – Western Great Lakes Chapter (APT-WGLC) and is a board member for DOCOMOMO/US-WI.
Recent notable projects Jeff managed while at a previous firm include the preservation and upgrades at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC, the expansion of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. (The REACH) and the reconstruction of the Observation Towers and Tent of Tomorrow at the New York State Pavilion (1964-65 World’s Fair) in Queens, NY.
In the Midwest, Jeff led a comprehensive structural investigation of the dome at the Illinois State Capitol. From 2018-2021 he donated his personal time and expertise to the adaptive reuse of a 120-year-old mass timber Granary in Door County, WI. The project was featured in ARCHITECT, for winning the magazine’s 2021 Progressive Architecture award. Beane Engineering is proud to be serving as its Engineer of Record.
